Introducing FoldSpy

FoldSpy has landed. As an introduction, I’m going to try and answer two very important questions; “What is FoldSpy?” and “Why do I need FoldSpy?”

What is FoldSpy?

Put simply, FoldSpy is a tool for finding out the actual dimensions of your visitor’s browser window. This data was surprisingly difficult to get your hands on, but not any more. Not only does FoldSpy give you access to this data but it presents it in completely new way, the data from FoldSpy is overlayed on your site.

Why do I need FoldSpy?

FoldSpy is most useful for people who need real data to make important layout decisions. It can answer questions like “where do I put this ad if I want 85% of my visitors to see it without scrolling?” Now, you can find the answer in seconds and because the FoldSpy data is displayed in-place, on your site, the answer can be viewed in a way that’s most useful.

FoldSpy is brand new and we would absolutely love to hear your feedback. So, what are you waiting for? Have a look at our screencast or sign up now for free.

I just put it up on my website and it works like a charm. And yep, that was the last time I´ve built a static website.

    Very cool

Any plans to do something similar for mobile? (where viewport is way more critical)

If so, I’d love to help ( / promote / sponsor / whatever)

A nice way to display screen size stats.
About mobile, I think the main issue will be the support of JavaScript!

Where does your data for calculating percentages come from? As in, the number of people that can view a particular dimension.

Superb! I have been begging for this type of data. It will absolutely be part of my next site.

Do you really think this is new thing? Your blog is really good to me, I read it to get useful info, but sometimes I’m bored to tears.

I think that you really can judge people by the way they comment different stuff. Some people, even expressing negative thoughts, are still polite and they respect and understand other people. Some people are not even trying to be nice, they just don’t care. I think self-confident person will always act nice, no matter what other people do
